I am a total newbie at this. What is the normal temperature range for an intel 6600. What is a safe range for over clocking assuming I would like it to last 3 years.
So far all I have done is install a thermaltake cu 90 with 92 mm adjustable fan. Silent at 1800 and way to loud at 4100 rpm.
I am using core temp to measure temperature. the AI app with my Asus board always measures2-8 degrees lower. Ambient air temperatures are around 68 in the room and cpu temps run about 38-42.
The only applications that really stress the computer are video rendering and trans coding.
