I am also interested in using dual antennas. My situation may be even more
complicated. I am certainly willing to experiment with antenna placement
and most anything I might need to do. I do not want to use a rotor or
switch.
There are two broadcast sources in my area. One on a mountain top directly
east of my house. The other is oriented about 90 degrees away from the
first-basically South of me. I have a satellite dish on my roof, as well as
a yagi antenna (non amplified) pointed at the eastern transmitter. All
stations from the eastern transmitter are at 95%+ on signal strength, there
is no problem there. I get no signal from the southern transmitter from the
currently installed yagi.
I have the Yagi diplexed with the satellite dish so I use only 1 RG6 going
to my TV set. The cable goes through my attic, down the inside of my wall,
and into my TV stand (where another diplexer undiplexes the signals and
sends them to appropriate devices.)
So, I want to try to add a second yagi pointed at the second transmitter.
Ideally I could mount the antenna in the attic. So, this is where things
get tricky. Can I cut the cable in the attic, and somehow add in the second
yagi? Understand the cable in the attic contains both satellite and OTA
frequencies-diplexed on the rooftop. Can another diplexer be added mid
cable on an already diplexed signal? I am not too concerned with insertion
loss from another piece of passive hardware inline as both my OTA and
Satellite signal strengths are both very good.
