Hi -

I have a windows 2000 pro box at a remote site connected back home via a
VPN connection.

I'm ablet to get into the 2k box with remote software, ping it, I can even
attach to it's c$ share.

Now I'm trying to get that 2k box to join our SBS 2003 domain.

It's on a workgroup now, I right click my computer an choose the network
id tab, enter our domain name abccorp.local - it right away asks for an
admin id and password, then after a min says it can't find the server.
yet if I type in a bogus domain -like abccorp.faraway it doesn't ask for the
id/pw and instead I get a different error right away telling me the dns name
is no good.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

PS, I've also from the 2k box, tried to connect to the server using:
NET USE \\SERVER /USER:ABCCORP\ACCOUNT

And that fails also, usually error 53 or I think 87
NET USE \\SERVER fails with error 53

I am suspecting that something in the network connection is getting
dropped instead of being run through the VPN.

The VPN is a hardware connection on both ends.
Name resolution doesn't seem to be the problem,
I'm using the remote server as the DNS server and I can ping all the
boxes in the remote domain by name
