Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if anyone wants to join in and
post some prices from local stores on some of the mainstream models?
I'm in the Hartford/Springfield area, so here's a few:

Mitsubishi 52525 - On sale at Bernies for $3813, but salesguys will
drop price to $3600 if you smell like a buyer. Salesguy notes that a
$60 Mitsubishi "trim kit" will be offered next month for those who
want to remove the somewhat glaring diamond screen. It only covers
the outer edges and is not a replacement screen.

Samsung 5063W - Best Buy had it for $3499, don't know if that's
negotiable.

LG RU-52SZ51D - Best Buy bundle with a Sony 800 watt system for
$3999.99 which includes the Star Wars trilogy. The set alone was
$3299.

JVC HD-ILA 52Z575 - BB has it on sale for $3254.99 while Bernies had
it for $3813.00. BB has the 61" version for $4049.99, and Bernies was
around $4400. I didn't ask, but I expect that the JVCs wuld be
discounted further if you got serious and pulled out a credit card.

Samsung 50" Captain Kirk - $3779.99 at BB. And it's $3745.00 on the
AVS PowerBuy, so I'd buy it locally if I liked it. Bernies will beat
that price and give you 99 day price protection too. But they charge
$60 for delivery/setup.

Panasonic 60" LCD RP PT-60LC14 at BB for $3440.99.

Sony 50" LCD rear projection KF50WE610 they say "$3299 before savings"
so one would have to assume it's less.

If you're up to buying online, you can beat these prices at several
places, and if you're a AVS member, the power buys are excellent too.
Typically, you can buy the JVC D-ILA 52" for $2995.00 delivered, and
$3595.00 with a Tech-Craft stand and a 4-year extended warranty.
