I have DSL with an Actiontec wireless modem and a new Gateway laptop with wireless capabilities. I have gone through tech support, re-done everything according to the instructions, and I keep getting that my IP address cannot refresh when I click on the wireless connection on my laptop. So, I went AGAIN to the Actiontec website and re-did everything again, refreshing my router and tried again,,,also tried re-installing all of the wireless device drivers on my computer, etc. etc. and STILL have a problem and an empty bottle of Excedrin. It is obvious that I am an amature wireless connector and yes I haven't ever done this before. However, I don't know where else to turn to other than you professionals. Please help me if you are able!

Thanks! 8O

I have not setup a actiontec router but most all setup the same. Most problems accour with the WPA sercuity and FIREWALL's blocking it.

1. turnoff the firewall
2. (temp) Set the wireless for open system
3. see if you can now see the router and connect.
4. Setup WPA
if good
Activate firewall
Failed, add subnet rule to allow wireless subnet.
