Newbie here, will welcome any advice/comments,
CompUSA case # 317226 (bought from private seller on Craiglist)
Mid tower ATX, has room for mtg. 2 120 mm. fans, and also has a duct on the left side panel.
Plan to run a Zalman CNPS 9500 CPU fan, Antec True Power Trio 650 watt PSU.
Will 2 120mm fans be enough for this build?, I do plan to overclock the CPU
Any insight as to brand/model of fans?
Looking for a balance of efficient, yet quiet cooling
BTW, this case is no longer listed @ CompUSA's website for those who want a look, and according to cust. service, no info. is available at all on it
Thanks....
for the 2 120mm fan's look for the highest CFM with the lowest RPM. The reason why you want this is because 120mm fans move more air (more CFM) and cool things better, because their max RPM is usually 2500 RPM they tend to be really quiet... I prefer a 120mm fan over an 80mm any day.
As for brand? shop around... Also if you plan on doing some decent overclocking you may went to get a 3rd party cooler and fan.
Hey Sweetpants,
Thanks for the input bud, I do appreciate it, btw, also running an ATI Radeon X1650 Pro card in this build, seeing that your an ATI fan. Not really into gaming, but that jus might change after this build !
if you want scale-able noise levels along with amazing performance, my personal favorite is the silverstone fm-121 fan. it comes with a fan controller that works well. at its highest speed, it is incredibly powerful, but pretty loud. at its lowest, it is pretty quiet.
if you want outright quietness, buy a nexxus fan, they are the best quiet fans out there.
and if you ask me, 2 120 mm fans are plenty to cool your set up. just make sure that there aren't any wires or anything else clogging the airflow in your case.
In most of my cases I try to put 120mm intake fan and a 120mm exhaust fan. What's even better is if you can get the LED lit ones. In my system I have 2 blue 120mm fans (intake and exhaust) and my PSU has 2 blue LED 80mm fans, (intake, exhaust)
