I was just wondering if anyone can tell me how much they think these chips may go down in April. I am looking at building a system but I keep seeing people mentioning a price cut in April. If they only drop by 30 bucks I would rather have the computer sooner then later but if they are going to drop majorly then I could wait. Anyone have any comments on this?

Thank you

I didn't really hear about a price cut on the E6600 in April. All I heard was that some new processors are coming out, E6320, E6420, E4400, etc... And the E6300, E6400, and E4400 are coming down in price. The big price cuts that Intel is planning to do (again, from what I've seen and heard) are going to be in Q3 of this year. So personally, I would wait for that unless you are in dire need of a new processor/computer.

Well, I would wait till next month to upgrade. I would get some decent hardware, an excellent motherboard, and an E4300. When the price cuts come in Q3, you can replace it with a higher end dual core or quad core. If you're in dire need of an upgrade (which from the looks of it you really don't), then that would be the best solution.

I had seen on some websites that Intel is doing some big cuts on the Core 2 line on or before April 22. Here is one source I found (translated from a chinese site) HKEPC Hardware. Its very slow to load but the information from that gives these price cuts:

Q6600 $831 -> $530
E6700 $530 -> $316
E6600 $316 -> $224
E4300 $163 -> $113

At the same time they will be launching the 6420 and 6320, the $184 and $163 respectively.

I can't be sure this information is true, but I think it would definitely be worth waiting for to see if it is.
