Upgrading from Sony DE945. Have a Pioneer Elite HD530 Wide Screen with high
definition receiver. Want to upgrade the sound system. Prices within about
$50. Appears that HK has a little better distortion specs but wondering if
there are advantages to matching AV Receiver with Television.

I don't see any kind of advantage to matching the brand of your stereo to
your television. The two should be completely independent (except if the
television has built-in tuner you may have a digital coax cable from the tv
to the stereo, but brands won't matter for that sort of thing).
I've had a HK AVR 525 for over a year now and absolutely LOVE it. I
definitely recommend HK. I've got a Pioneer Elite DVD player, but as far as
receivers go I think HK is the way to go.

I'll second the HK vote. I've had an AVR520 for the last 2 years, and
it's great.
