I have a Dell Dimension XPS T600r that had W2k, Office 2k, Dev Studio 6 (and
a lot of other stuff) on it. The HD burped.
With a new HD installed, I am trying to reinstall all the stuff that was on
it, and in the process upgrade the MS stuff with the most recent SP's. I was
doing fine until trying to install VS 6.
I installed W2k, followed with SP4. I then installed O2k, followed with
SP1a and SP3. Then I tried to install VS6, but when it went to reboot,
windows failed to load with a corrupted hive and the blue screen. I restored
the registry files and it boots fine (in the configuration when last backed
up).
I'm checking here to see if there is a specific sequence in which these
programs and their SP's need to be loaded?
Or maybe my computer isn't good enough for the latest MS SP's?
