I have a W2K Professional Workstation that was on an NT
4.0 domain. I joined my W2K domain and all office 2000
applications no longer work. I'm told both on boot-up or
when I click any Office 2000 application: "The application
must be installed to run. Please run Setup from the
location from where you originally installed the
application."
If I try to run the insatll program from the CD I am
told "The patch package could not be opened. Verify that
the patch package exists and that you can access it, or
contact the application vendor to verify that this is a
valid Windows Installer patch package." I'm given an OK
button and upon pressig it the installer closes (and the
applications will not load.
Now, if I log on to the local machine as Administrator
(not the domain) I can run the Office 2000 applications
(of course since I'm connected to the domain and I need
the Exchange server there, Outlook does not run).
So, I uninstall the Office 2000 suite as the local
Administrator, reboot as the domain Administrator and try
to install the Office application from there. No Go. I'm
back to the "The patch package could not be opened...."
message.
