win2k sp4 bugs?

hi all:

i installed win2k sp4 and had to back it out. before i
installed sp4, i had installed other patches. but after i
installed sp4, some of those old patches (14 of them be
exact) show up under "Cridical Updates and Service Packs".
when i tried to install those "installed" patches and the
download just hung there. not just those patches. i was
also trying to upgrade windows media player to 9 and the
download also hung there.

once i back the sp4 out and then i had no problems ...

any ideas?
