Catalyst X1800 Driver Update fails -"INF file was not found"

Hi I get this error when trying to install drivers of ATI for my X1800 XT (Sapphire) for Windows Vista 32bit. The version I am trying is 7.2 but Im pretty sure 7.1 fails in this way too. The Catalyst driver installs but the Catalyst software fails and the northbridge driver install fails too with the error: "INF file was not found".

First , have you made sure that all your previous drivers have been deleted? Second, do you have .Net 1.1 installed? And last, you may have to download 7.2 again. Also make sure your .Net is installed first before installing the CCC suite

Can you explain this more fully - downloaded dotnetfx installed fine. But drivers still fail to install properly.

I had the same problem, just on WinXP64. I gave up. I had no problem to upgrade to 7.1. A fresh windows install installed the 7.2 fine thou

I had to update my x1950Pro drivers in Vista by

Running ATI setup and cancelling after it has extracted all files then:

'Update Driver>
No, not this time>
Install from list>
Don't search, i will choose>
Have Disk. . .then browsing to the ATI folder on the C: you have just extracted and choosing the .inf file.
