More Information

I have a Linksys WAP54G and Linksys WRT54GL running DD-WRT firmware currently using the same SSID and channels 1 and 11. I want to be sure that I have strong coverage througout an area with a lot of walls and other material, which is why I have these units installed. However, the area is not that large, and there is an area with strong overlap. My question is this, does having too much overlap in some areas slow throughput?

I did some checking on a Mac running iStumbler, which shows me the signal strength and noise of each AP. In the most overlapping area (the place which will receive the most use) strength is about 50dbm, and noise shows zero. Now that the second AP is on, the Airport signal meter in the menu bar shows 4/5 (instead of the previous 5/5). I have yet to be able to really test the throughput, but if anyone has any ideas, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

It's is possiable having them fighting each other, Try dropping the power down. Or just live with one AP in a optimal location. I was wondering does it work using the same channel? or does both require a different channel. I've heard conflicting reports between mfg recomended setups. Some say different SSID with association, same channel. Other say same ssid, and channel.

Does the WRT-rr firmware allow for association?
