Archived from groups: microsoft.public.win2000.setup_upgrade (More info?)

According to MSKB article 249694, step 8 states that you
need to initiate an in-place upgrade to refresh the
setup.log and registry after you've restored your data.
While this process does work and all of my applications
work correctly, do you really need to run through the
entire upgrade process or is there a point at which I can
stop it and then do a System State restore?
Thanks in advance.
