I am going to upgrade to Pro XP tomorrow evening. My question is this if I
make a DVD of the current files will I be able to do a reinstall if
necessary of the original information. Will making a copy without using the
Ghost software capture the registry and hidden files? Any and all guidance
would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Making an image of the current system using Ghost (or a
similar product) is the surest way to be able to reverse
the upgrade process, if that's what you mean. Most other
methods are more involved and less likely to work
correctly. Ghost is simple to use, dependable and fast.
What's the problem with using it ?

You really need to use imaging software. If you can't afford to purchase a
product like Ghost you can use BootIt NG to create your image directly to
DVD. It has a 30 day fully functional trialware program that can be
downloaded from here http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/bootitng.html This
file creates a floppy. Boot with the floppy and Cancel the request to
install when the screen pops. That way the Disk Tools are run off the
floppy. Click the Partition icon and you will have an option to create an
image. Burn to DVD or CD. The app will autospan as needed. You can use the
app to restore from the image if needed. Later you may wish to purchase the
application if you find it was helpful.

Don't have it. But it makes sense it is my best option.

Thanks. Fay

This is a 30 day trial, but does that mean to make the image or does that 30
days apply to the use of the image also?

You will know if the upgrade went OK within a couple of days.
