5200+ vs E6400

I am putting together another build soon and I was wondering if I should go with another AMD 5200+ and OC it to 3GHz or get an E6400 and OC that. Which one will ffer me the best peformance?

Also, If I do go with the E6400, is the eVGA T1 mobo better than the ASUS Commando?

The E6400 will kill the X2 5200+ when it comes to overclocking; with the right cooler, you could hit 3.4GHz and higher.

They'd perform almost identically. If you plan on overclocking at all, the E6400 will wipe the floor with the X2 5200+.

Seconded. The Core 2 is still the dominant force, and the lower end models (E6300, 6400) are notoriously good overclockers and perform very well for the money.

The X2 will not be able to compete, except for very few workloads cherry-picked by sharikou (I guess you already are familiar with this name )

I've had the E6400 running @ 3.62ghz but the temps were too high for my liking.

Currently @ 3.4 without a hitch.
