It looks about 7% faster so Intel will charge 10% less for it.

Intel is slashing prices like old crazy eddie

AMD will have another price cut to stay competitive.
I am now regret having bought a x2 3600+ in February.

I just think it's sad in how many benchmarks the Windsor 4600+ (and even the 4000+) beat the Brisbane 4800+.

Edit - I wish the 6000+ and E6700 were in there.

What ever anyone buys, goes down in price, eventually.

Just think about all those people who spent $900-1000 bucks on their CPU, then they get out done in 2 months - 1 years time.

Hell, I even remember when I spent over 200 bucks for my old P4 2.66.

If prices always went up proportionally with performance, the cost of a new core 2 duo would be like 7 million dollars from the cost of the first processors back in the day.

Why are you complaining anyway? It saves the consumer money.

I have no regrets about my 3600@ 90 dollars.especially since their profit margin is -3%. I should have bought it at a higher price.

Since so many users are buying CPUs at firesale prices and they should be paying more, I suggest that they apply the difference between the price they paid and the price they should have paid and send it to the Capt. April/Tanker Foundation, a 501(c) dedicated to advancing the financial welfare of these two very deserving individuals.

Back when we were discussing the actual price of silicon there were some absolutes being tossed around, and IMHO no matter how you slice it, these processors are being sold under cost. Now when you have a $120 billion cap company engaging in a price war with an $8 billion company, which one do you think will survive?

regarding the new intel chips:

combining the stock benchmarks with respect to gaming, office, and synthetic tests and then comparing them vs the winner (left out the 6600 and D series):

6420
6400 (-5%)
6320 (-9%)
4400 (-11.5%)
6300 (-14%)
4300 (-18%)

After today it isn't an $8B company anymore maybe by the end of the week it''l be down to a $7B company... Does anyone notice the trend here.

Looks like a buters market for those who have faith in the AMD portfolio. AMD has a lot more going on than just Barcelona. IF they can follow thru with all the irons in the fire that they have now (fusion, stream proccessors, and other things I can't remember right now) and the products are truly innovative AMD has a good chance of pulling back above that $33.00 a share price they had last year. Of course it all depends on AMD and recently they've tanked when it comes to reliable info. Guess we'll see in the next year or two.

I started the thread hoping for some discussion on the performance and possible OC potential of the new proccessors. If its cheap thats nice, If its too cheap thats bad because it could put AMD out of buisness and then 4 years from now we'll be pissin n moanin about the sky high prices of Intel proccessors and remembering the good ol days of competative markets.
