HDMI video comes up with pink cast when set first comes on

Both are new. Directv receiver is connected to the HDTV using the HDMI
cable. About 2/3s of the time, the the screen comes on with a pink cast.
Only after changing the TV to another input or changing the Directv from
1080i to another format and back, does normal video appear. After the
correction, the video is fine until the set is powered on again. It appears
to be a problem with syncing the HDMI when the set is turned on.
The pink cast does not appear if we disconnect HDMI and use component video
or if the set is tuned to the DVD player on compnent video when turned on.
I am looking for help to troubleshoot whether this is the TV or the Directv
receiver. I don't have another HDMI receiver to test with but I can return
the this one and exchange it for a new one (hassle).
