I'm currently running Win 2000 server and using the
software mirror on two 20GB (NTFS) hard drives (c. I
would like to upgrade to two 40GB (NTFS)hard drives. My
plan was to-
1. break the mirror
2. install new (formatted to 40 GB NTFS) hard drive
as "Slave"
3. re- mirror
4. install new (formatted to 40GB NTFS) hard drive
as "Master"
5. Let the system Re-mirror
Sound OK??
Will it only mirror the new drive to 20GB??
Can I use Partition Magic (Volume Manager) to then resize
the partions to 40GB?
why there is no one replied Andy fo such a long time, ok this is an old topic, but it seems that many people encountered the same problem, hope I can do something helpful.
Andy did not tell us whether the 'mirror' is dynamic Mirror Volume or haredware raid. If it is dynamic disk, you cannot resize the dynamic volume after you remirror to another larger disk, even by third party product, the only way is to copy original dynamic volume to the larger disk, then mirror the two large disks. see http://www.partition-tool.com/reso [...] c-disk.htm
If the mirror is hardware RAID1, it is easy to solve, build another raid by the large disks, and then copy original disk to this raid, at last expand the partitions. check http://www.partition-tool.com/reso [...] tition.htm
