in the fist GUI step, "Installing Devices", following the reboot after the
text based install, the computer goes into a loop. its is just past the
middle of the progress bar, just after the screne flickers and it does a
floopy drive seek (no floppy is there). it then goes into the loop. the hard
drive makes the same set of sounds for about 2 seconds then repeats over and
over for over an hour

the program is not frozen, i can do a shift-f10 and start taskmgr and stop the
setup program (which reboots the computer). i tried a fresh install instead
of the upgrade and it goes into the loop at the same exact point

i am upgrading win98 to widows 2000 on an HP Pavilin 8565c. all hardware was
woking corretly before the upgrade.

any help would be appreciated
