According to Newegg, EVGA 122-CK-NF68-T1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI , This board supports DDR2 1200 ram.

This is partly a RAM question, and a motherboard question. Would I be able to use lesser DDR2 chips in it (for instance, DDR2 800 which seems fairly standard) and if not how much faster would a DDR2 1200 stick with a 5-5-5-15 CAS run than a DDR2 800 @ 3-4-3-9 CAS (corsair dominator)?

That board uses 533/667/800/1200 and anything in between I believe.

The difference between 800 and 1200 DDR2 sticks will probly not be significant if your not overclocking your cpu to 600fsb+ (unlikely you are).

That board was revised cause it had issues overclocking intel core 2 quad cpus past 400-450fsb. All good now though.
