win2k sp4 problem

hi all,

i have a comp installed with win2k pro running on sp2(on
fat32). the momt i installed sp4, the system refused to
boot up and gives me all assortment of errors. now it has
come to point where in the partitions on the drive are
totally unrecognizable even if i boot through a win98SE
boot disk. it has some how messed around with the MBR. now
that i have lost allmost all the data, i have done a clean
install of win2k after repart the entire drive afres. but
im scared to death to install sp4.

i would like to know someof the following:

* any specific pre-requisites to be followed before
installing sp4.

* are there any serious flaws in sp4.
