Just finished a major upgrade. Got a e4300, Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 Mobo, G Skill DDR2 6400, Tuniq Tower, eVGA 7600GT PCIex. I am replacing old 2600xp, Asus mobo, ATI 9600 AGP. First off, installing the tuniq was a major PITA. Damn that thing is heavy. Well, got everything in, attached all the various wires (case fan, power swtich, etc). Put it all together and turned it on.....blank screen. Stuff certainly powers up...i think the HD makes some noise. It only seems to stay on for about 4 secs or so then shuts off unless I hold the power button down...but no noises that suggest progress. The monitor never changes from bilnking green to green. Any suggestions on what i may have done wrong? Unfortunatly, I don't have any equipment to check and see if its the individual components. Just frustrated...its not like this is my 1st build! HELP!

thanks

My first guess is you didn't get the Tuniq Tower on correctly. I would try reseating it. If the CPU is overheating it will shut down really quickly.

My second guess is you don't have the 4 pin 12v power cable plugged in.

Forgot to add that I don't have a 24pin power supply. So when I plug it in to the mobo I have a block of 4 pins on the end that are empty. Is that ok? I may not have pushed the 12v in all the way. I realized after I put the mobo in that I didn't connect it and it was rather difficult without pulling everything out again. however i thought I got it on there pretty good.

NO

You need a power supply with a 4 pin 12v ATX power cable. If you are using you old power supply, it's not gonna cut it.

I do have the 4pin 12v. What i am saying is the main power cable connection, when connected to the mobo, leaves a 4 pin block empty. The connection for the 4pin 12v is separate, next to where the CPU us. I have an Antec 380W TruePower PSU.

So I'm not sure if that motherboard requires the 24pin connector or just the 20. I looked at the manual, it looked like the 20pin would be ok.

However, I really doubt that power supply can run that system. Better check out the PSU 101 thread.
