£ sign encoding appears and prints as J in many programs

£ sign encoding appears andprints as J in many programs

Windows 2000 and IE6 - all up to date. Have russian and
some other languages enabled. Main user interface English
(US) I want to change menus and dialogs to English UK so I
can see the £ sign.
In IE6 on the internet £ appears as J (also in quickbooks)
In word £ sign appears on sreen and prints OK

I have gone to regional settings and keyboard and all
other settings are correct for UK.
In IE6 Internet options/ languages I have english(UK) but
menus and dialog boxes have English (US)
