Should I just upgrade to Windows XP?

I experienced a serious problem with Windows 2000 Pro, that I believe needs
to be resolved by reformatting my hard drive, reloading W2K, and
reinstallinging my apps and files. That would be quite a chore, so I was
wondering if I should just upgrade to WinXP Pro with the hope that it will
not require me to reformat the drive. Would I necessarily need to reinstall
my apps anyway?

These may help. Fix any issues prior to starting an upgrade.
