Swapping out mother bd.

I would like to know what are the ways to swap out a
mother board with out having to reinstall everything from
scratch with W2K pro.

I would like to know what to do before my mother board
goes bad and what to do once I replace it with a
different mother board. There is way too much on it to
reinstall from the ground up.
