What is the difference between Cat 5e UTP, STP and FTP cables?
Which one of the above cables would be more suitable for a network of 20 PC's all of them with an ethernet card 10/100. All are connected to a switch and a broadband router.

What is the environment like?

Normally, UTP (unshielded twisted pair) Cat5e is sufficient for 100/1000 Mbps ethernet.

The other two have added shielding to provide some protection against electro-magnetic interference.

In order of protection, STP (shielded twisted pair) is the best, followed by FTP (foil twisted pair), and then UTP.

Unless you have some special circumstance, UTP is all you need. The shielded cable is more complicated to use and install. If the shield is not properly grounded, for example, it does no good.

My enviroment is in an office. 10 PC's are connected with Cat 5e UTP Cables and the other 10 PC's are connected with Cat 5e FTP.
