I upgraded from win 98 to win 2000k and all went smoothly
until I got to the log in screen when win 200k pro
started up. I cannot og into win 2k pro! I never set a
password and user ID on win 98. How do I get past the
screen and log in? I tried using the usual admin/password
and others. Can I back the installation to win 98 or am
I totally screwed and have to do a clean upgrade? I did
back up my data files but do not want to re-install
everything.

Thanks and Best Regards.

Jim

Hello Jim,

You should have been given the oportunity to enter a password for the Windows 2000 administrator
account. If by chance you clicked throught this screen then the password would be blank. Try
username=administrator and password='"blank".

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. I simply cannot
log in to the system. I tried to repair the install as
well. Is there a way to reinstall or back out to win
98?

Hello Jim,

Mr. Patrick is correct...there isn't a way to roll-back a 98 to 2000 upgrade. As for the password issues
the only supported way to fix this is to reinstall the OS. You might want to jump on the internet and search for a 3rd party utility
that will allow recovery.

Sorry I wasn't more help
