Hi!

I need your help, this will be my first time building a system from scratch, I've been reading the forums for 2 months now (more or less).Any way im trying to build a budget system (around $750 USD after MIR's). i mainly play WoW and some office work for school.

Since i live in Mexico 750 USD is a lot of money for me. i already have some specs thanks to sanji's guide, i will go AMD to be with in the budget. I am planing on OC .

CPU & MOBO: Im going with the combo at the egg AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Brisbane; BIOSTAR TFORCE 550 Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 550;
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductComboList.asp?Item...
$143.99

VIDEO: EVGA GeForce 7600GT 256MB. I think is enough for WoW.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E1681...
$99.99 after MIR

CPU cooler: Since the CPU is an OEM im going for the: Thermaltake CL-P0114 120mm
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E1683...
$44.99

CASE: COOLER MASTER Centurion 534
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E1681...
$49.99

RAM: SUPER TALENT 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 DDR2 667 (PC2 5300).(x2)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E1682...
$121.98
One question tho. Is this ram godd/ ok for OC? not really sure there

HDD: Western Digital Caviar 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E1682...
$52.99
one hard disk will do for now.

DVDRW: NEC Black 18X DVD+R 2M Cache E-IDE DVD Burner
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E1682...
$29.49

KEYBOARD: Logitech Media Black
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E1682...
$14.99
i already bought a Mouse and a monitor from wal-mart so im covered there

PSU: this is where i have most trouble, i don't really know what to get so far i have this ones:

Antec EA500 ATX12V v2.0 500W Power Supply
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E1681...
$94.99

AeroCool ZERODBA ZERODBA-S500 EPS 12V/ ATX 12V 2.02 500W Power Supply
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E1681...
$97.99

Rosewill RT550-135-BK 550W 135mm Fan SLI Ready - ATX V2.2/EPS12V Power Supply 115/230
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$69.99

Rosewill RP550V2-D-SL 550W SLI Ready-ATX 12V V2.01 Power Supply 115/230
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
$61.99

Will any of these be enough for a modest OC, and what if i upgrade later to a Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB will they hold it?

it all comes around $701.91 USD with out the MIR's

i think that's about it. Do you guys see any compatibility issues?

please help thanks

PD: please don't mind my grammar English is not my native language   .

No compatability issues there. You sure you want to keep a $700 budget?

I'm still not sure about the PSU tho can someone comment that?

That is not a very good PSU. Get an OCZ GameXStream or Corsair PSU.

Wow thanks for the comments guys.

well i have 2 sets of ram there from ishikawa and bobbknight. i heard that if i am going AM2 i should get DDR2 800 for better performance is this true?

another thing, I've heard good reviews about the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 pro, but i don't know that much from the tuniq tower. which of the 3 (the third being the big typhoon) will keep my CPU cooler? will i even have space in that case for the tuniq tower?

i could not find the silencer 470 ATX PSU on new egg. will 450W be enough if i upgrade later to a newer video card? (8xxx or R600) plus i don't have plan on SLI (i don't think i can't on that mobo anyway)

WTH does "bump" mean?
March 22, 2007 10:09:08 PM

I think am2 will benefit more from ddr2 800 because the internal memory controller will make better use of the added bandwidth. Furthermore if you are planning on OCing then definitely get the ddr2 800 so will have more headroom. 8)

Bump means he is trying to keep his topic fresh(and on the scrolling forum banner on the main page) so people will be more likely to reply.

find some where in Mexico as shipping there will cost a lot + customs may give you a hard time

Link
If you went with the Biostar motherboard, and X2 3600+, as you originally planed, the total would be under 700$. And you'd have a much faster videocard, twice as much ram, more harddrive space, etc...

Also, whenever anyone posts a new reply in any thread, that thread gets put on top of the list inside it's category, so more people will see it. Bump, is just the slang term used so someone can post a reply so that this thread will be on the top of the List.

I have a P.O. Box in El Paso Texas so the stuff wont ship all the way to Mexico plus if i buy the stuff here in Mexico it will be the double or maybe more of the price in newegg.

Yes im not changing anything from the original build other than the RAM to DDR2 800. but i still don't now about the PSU. i think 600W is too much. i don't plan on SLI , but i do want to upgrade to a better video card in a few months (8xxx or a R600), just moderate OCing, 2 maybe 3 hard drives. I've read the PSU 101 guide but I'm still clueless about it

thanks for the replays

Check out F1nal Omen guide and then swap what you like for things he has. The PSU will run your system with a 7600, and it is $51, your card is $100 and the mobo/CPU will save you $126? So it would be $674~ :D
