I'm sure many of you have heard of smoothwall (www.smoothwall.org) has anyone checked out the new version 2.0. I've been running 1.0 (all patches) for quite some time now, but I am wondering what others thought about this awesome piece of software! Thanks!

It's not a bad piece of software...but wasn't advanced enough or configurable enough for me. If you think this one is good, try out Engarde or E-Smith. You can also try clark-connect. All of these have more functionality than smoothwall (I dropped it and manually configured slackware 9.1 instead of it...makes for more things i need such as webserver, nameserver, mailserver, ftp server, etc.)

To look at engarde, clarkconnect, and esmith...go to http://distrowatch.com

Gave this one another try...I installed it for a small office setup. It works like a top. This thing is easy maintenance and easy install...even easier config. I configured it at home...saved it to a floppy...then took it to the computer at the office...installed, saved the config across and had it done in about 10 minutes. I got paid a buttload of money for 10 minutes of work. Gotta love how diverse and easy it is. As far as security...I haven't been able to hack it yet, which in itself is a nifty lil ditty.
