One client have standard server and wants to upgrade the RAM from 4 to 8 GB
thus need to upgrade the server to advanced is that possible?

You'll have to format and install as per Danny Sanders post. But remember
even if you upgrade to 8GB of RAM, you will only be able to use 3GB RAM for
application space. This is true of even to the highest release, Windows 2003
Datacenter.
