Forum CPU & Components : Sound Cards Help, Realtek audio problems

I have the Realtek onboard audio that came with my Gigabyte S-3 motherboard. I have the latest drivers.

For some reason, when I play Supreme Commander or any online content, I only have the front two speakers and subwoofer outputting sound. I have the Realtek HD manager set to 6 channel output, I have the standard manager set to the same.

The only time it will output sound to all speakers all the time is when I have one of the "sound schemes" selected, but that causes this horrible voice echo. Has anyone had problems similar to mine, and how do you fix it? I am somewhat of an audiophile but my speakers ($100 system from logitech, 3 years ago) are not to high end anyway so I am just going to be happy with 5.1 channel from this thing.

go to control panel ->sounds and audio devices->advanced button under the heading speaker settings. make sure that the speaker setup is set to 5.1, cause if it isnt it dosent matter what you set anything else to.

I have done that, it is set to 5.1 and I still do not have output.

Interestingly enough, even though the speakers are at 5.1, when I go to adjust individual audio settings in the same menus, I only can do left and right.

There is one sure solution. Get a sound card. You won't regret it. Even if it's a cheap $15 Sound Blaster Live! 5.1

Check your temps with HWMonitor, Core Temp or RealTemp. SpeedFan seems to be wrong more...
