Western Digital My Book Essential WDG1U800N 80GB 7200 RPM

I'm at my wits end trying to get info from WD. Can anyone tell me if this external drive will be supported under Windows 98 SE or might drivers be available that would allow it to funtion? Thanks for any help.

Hi,
You might check the WD Website, but I think WD stopped supporting Windows 98 when MS did back in July so there is no Win98 drivers for a USB Mass Storage device for the Mybook Series.
Wish I had better news.

This page (from Western Digital) says that it is supported by Windows 98. And you can download the drivers from this page.

Thank you very much for your time in researching this issue. I did find that 98 drivers are available for 98/SE/ME. I wish the online retailers of these kind of products would list more of this type of information. Although I use XP, I was researching this for an elderly friend who like many others still cling to 98 or ME yet need the convenience of an external drive. Thanks again for your help.
