If your 2000 gives you the option to clean install, i would recomend
that, at this stage it may be nessasery to load the recovary console
and backup important stuff.

Better yet, have the Windows 2000 installer format the hard drive then do
a clean install of Windows 2000 - you'd be much happier in the long run
