DVD software

My current DVD player, Roxio DVDMax Player, is broken, and I'm looking for a cheap or free DVD player so I can see if its a hardware problem, or Roxio before I buy a good replacement.

So anyone have any ideas on free/cheap DVD players, or a full Player.

I'm confused if you're looking for hardware or software.. I didn't bother looking it up.

Why not just download a free dvd player program and see if that works?

Software, and I have downloaded a few that claim DVD playback, and then promply removed them and their billions of spyware friends. My currect player came with my drive, and stopped working recently. Just freezes up and crashes.

Uninstall the player and see if Windows Media player will play it.

Ok so windows Media player can handle DVDs? Then I have a problem... need to do more research.

*EDIT* Ok just got InterActual Player from a DVD of mine, it crashes, just like Roxio. Windows Media Player just stalls. If anyone has heard of this problem speak up, I really like watching DVDs and I can't now.

No STOCK windows media player CANT".... you have to update it and download the DVD playback Plug-IN, you can get it off microsoft.com


it's free but im just saying you'll need to get the plugin.

download DiVX player. you can get that also... you probley don't have the right codecs on your system and it's probley hangin.

Thanks Rob. I'm using the 30 day Nvidia Plugin for Windows Media Player. Still don't know why Roxio doesn't work, but I'm looking for a replacement.
