Help!

I am just a poor VB.net coder who dabbles in hardware a tiny bit.

I've got a bunch of odds and ends kicking around, that I am going to put into a system.

Motherboard + Case = Shuttle SK22G2 (only a 200 watt PS)

Hd = 74 gig Raptor
Memory = 2 x 1 gig DDR2 667
CPU = Athlon 5000+ (89 Watts)
DVD Burner

I'd like a decent video card, preferably with the following features.

I am not a gamer (unless you count SimCity) so frames per second, etc is NOT huge, just need a 1920 x 1200 DVI and (hopefully) a second out to go to the TV (DVI => HDMI adaptor cable if possible, hence Dual DVI if I can get it)

Preferably passively cooled

Must fit in the 200 watt power budget with bits and pieces above.

Thanks in advance, you guys always rock in this forum!

Hi

I would suggest look at a x1300 Ati card , they are really good . See this article on budget cards .

http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q2/budget-gpus/index.x?pg=1

Also check out this page at newegg for Vcards on the budget range.

I can suggest a 6300le only because you want a passive cooled card.

Other wise a 7300gt is a good buy . http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q2/budget-gpus/index.x?pg=1

Glad to help :)

Good suggestions there. Although you could go with a 7300gs which would be cheaper than the 7300GT and do everything you need it to.

Basically all modern video cards can output that resolution.

The X1600PRO/XT can also be found passively cooled with two DVI's. More powerful than X1300, comparable to 7600GS and decently priced, IMO.
Don't know about the power draw, (I'm guessing more than the 7300GS) but it should fit in your power envelope

The X1600's use alot more power than the 7300GS. The 7600GS or X1300's wouldn't be too bad a choice either, but with a 200W PSU, and no gaming, the 7300GS is the safer bet IMO.
