I have older medion laptop (a MD40734) and have been trying to get a linux os to work properly on it for ages, Tried suse, mandrake, redhat, fedora all to no availe they would not play with my usb mouse, the network port or the sound card, then somebody told me to try the Ubuntu dvd wich had both a live and install version of the latest offering ( breezy badger) they even gave me a copy tried it and was well impresed every thing now works even the install was fairly simple. 10 out of 10 for the guys at Ubuntu i will recomend it every time, i would even let my mum lose on it and she is not very technicaly minded.
I installed Ubuntu by mistake, thinking I was installing Fedora Core 4. I had the Ubuntu DVD in the tray instead. I am trying it out to see how it goes. So far I have been able to do more with it then Fedora Core 1.
