ZALMAN CNPS9500 Question

I have a ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink hooked up to my Core 2 Duo E6600. My question is everytime I've put this thing on it's very loose. I've tightened the screws as tight as they seem to want to go but I'm always able to swivel the heat seat around (using arctic silver 5 so it's always greasy).

Is it supposed to be this way? It seems my idle temps are a little high but keep in mind my room is kinda warm and the arctic silver hasn't broken in yet. It idles around 42-44. The first time I put it on using the zalman thermal grease it used to idle at like 39-42. I must be doing something wrong in how I fit the heatsink on the processor.

I installed a 9700 on my E6600... I noticed mine will swivel a little too, although not on it's own, I pretty much have to reach in there & try to turn it.

One thing that might have caused it on mine is that I bent a little more curve into the S-clip before I installed it b/c I simply would not reach both sides on the bracket without putting some serious a$$ pressure on my MB. I really didn't want to risk cracking the MB.

So, I think there's a fine line between bending the clip too much or too little.

My temps are 25-30c using core temp. I need to get speed fan downloaded as I've read it's usually more accurate. I've got the antec 900 case. It's got EXTREMELY good air cooling. I've got 3 120 mm's blowing in, on 120 mm & one 200 mm blowing out.

Wow, I wonder if it is really just that hot in my room! I have a brand new thermaltake armor case and using that zalmann 9500 with arctic silver 5 and still running like 40-45...but like i said according to arctic sivler people temps will drop about 5 when the break in period is over, but it still seems high to me.

hmmm. My case doesnt have particualalry good cooling (aerocool aeroengine sr.) yet im hitting around 25-30 when o/c and about 20-22 at normal clock at idle. From what i remember it can swivel but shouldnt be too easy to do, I didnt bend my clip and its nice and secure (although was hairy to tighten). At full load im getting about 50-55 (which i think is a little high)

20 to 22 at idle?

Where are you located ................ Alaska?

What is the ambient temperature in the room where the computer is located?

68 to 72 degrees F is excellent, but hard to believe, unless your room is quite cool at all times.

Just my thoughts!

I'm thinking that's kinda physically impossible, to get something which sits in the air cooler that the air itself without a peltier or phase change.

iv had dat problem with the 9500 too
i had to remove it, reset the backplate, and scerw it back down again to get it to work

havign said that, the 9500 isnt the best of all coolers, its alright compared to competition, but the temps are usually on the high side (lower than stock though)

in a normal office type room wiv e6600 ambient abt 25C, best case for a 9500 would be

idle - 34-39C, load, 45-52C

-----
check the bottom of your heatsink is flat - zalman had a problem with a few batches, which had convex bases.

I reapplied less AS5 about a half of a grain of Rice and they came down. This is why I like the Zalman Brush on Thermal Compound it's easer to apply. Yea I've have 2 9500 and a 9700 and thay will all turn if you try.
