I am running Red Hat Fedora, but I'm not sure. How do I find out?
Also when I try to install programs, it seams that only rpm packages work.
I have "Linux for Dummies" but I think I need Linux for complete Idiots because I have'nt a clue as to what I am doing.
I did manage to download and install Firefox, but now when I click the icon and Firefox comes up, I get a blank page in spite of setting my preference to my favorite page.
And another thing. Is there a way I can see where all the program files are stored? Last week when I installed Firefox, I had to put it in its own folder and go hunting for it all the time. Don't know exactly what I did yesterday when I reinstalled Firefox, except that it was an rpm package and it placed an icon in the startup menue.
I think I need someone to show me how to run Linux right here by my side.

Puta. I thik you'll find the forums over at justlinux.com very helpful. I used to hang out there years ago and they are targetted largely for linux newbies :)
