“In laboratory testing MONARCH outperformed the Intel quad-core Xeon chip by a factor of 10,” said Michael Vahey, the principal investigator for the company's MONARCH technology.

Very cool stuff, though I don't understand how the chip is morphable. It seems like it's simply an SoC with multi-purpose SIMD units, not unlike today's GPUs or IBM's Cell.

Well, it sounds better than it is.
Xeon is a x86 CPU so just because of that it is very disadvantaged and MONARCH also costs quite a few times more.
