Removing Pin-on cooler

Im not sure if this post goes in the right area , excuse me if i did wrong.
I want to remove a pin-on type cooler i have in a c2d system to clean up the processor. I wanted to know if it is possible to remove it without having to take out all the motherboard from the box?

If by "pin on" you mean the same kind of retention that Intel's stock cooler uses, then yes. Simply twist them counter-clockwise and they should pop out.
