HDTV in developing nations : Fiji : an excellent way to provide broadband
telecom services ...
Using DVB-T transmission technology it would be trivial (over the long run)
to provide TV1, as well as Fiji's 2 radio networks via thin DTV subchannels.
The remaining capacity could be allocated to Internet capacity, and during
daylight hours -- a 24 hr news station featuring news from Australia, NZ and
parts of the world where the tourists come from.
The Internet capacity could provide a good source of revenue for the state
broadcaster.
SKY in Fiji could take its time to convert to DVB-T, mainly waiting for
proper (sim card compatable) subscription technology to emerge for DVB-T.
