im looking for a cpu cooler, but is there a decent one which doesnt require a backplate so that I can install it without taking the mobo out of the case?

how about these 2: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-015-ZA&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=821

or do they need a backplate?

im thinking of overclocking my e6600 to 3.2, is there much point getting a cooler or should i just use the stock core 2 cooler? Ill probably keep this processor for a good few years

Those 2 use a backplate mounting system. The best cooler I can think of that doesnt have a backplate mounting system would be the new version of the Thermaltake Big Typhoon. The older version that has a backplate is the CL-P0114, the new version that uses the same clip mounting things that the Intel stock cooler uses is call the CL-P0310.
