I was looking at a KV34HS510 at one store & KV34HS420 at another store
yesterday. I thought the 510 had more features (ie PIP) but after searching
the net I find the 510 has been discontinued. Anyone know why? Did it have
problems? or if it's been replaced by another model?

All the comments I've seen from those that have it say it's pretty nice.
What gives?

The HS510 is last years model. The model replacing the HS510 is not the
HS420, it is the XS series.

Sony has replaced the HS510, with the HS420, no Memory Stick Slot, and
still no built in ATSC tuner. The KD-34XS955 and KD-30XS955 HAVE the
built in ATSC tuner and cable card slot. Price on the 34XS955 is $2K
list, dealer cost is approx $1350.

Yes, the KV34HS510 is an amazing set; I've had mine for almost a year
now and simply love it.

From what I can find, the KV34HS420 is the closest replacement in
this year's lineup. About the same price (a little lower), 34"
widescreen, HD-ready (no integrated tuner - they have another 34" this
year that has one). Saw this one at Sears yesterday; looks very nice.
