Yesterday i picked up a Biostar 6800XT with 512MB GDDR2 as the docs said.RivaTuner states it has GDDR3 Also I unlocked the pipelines 1 set at a time and got all 16 working and all 6 Vertex pipes working. Stable with a 415core 795 mem OC. Was I lucky in the card I got? and can I push the OC more or should i just be happy with a card performing like its bigger brother the 6800 Ultra? Comments appreciated

Does it have a 128-bit or 256-bit memory bus? You might as well try bumping up the core until you begin to get artifacting/crashes, and from there just back down a few MHz.

Rivatuner states 256bit. dont wanna burn it out it replaced a FX 5200. will be atleast late april b4 I finish my Core 2 E4300 build it will house a 7600GT. Waiting for the Intel price cuts in april pretty much. Current system is a P3 1gig. getting 40-50fps all settings maxed in World of warcraft. about the only game I play. went from 15-20fps with the 5200 all settings low. so a substancial change. Plus when i finish the Core 2 system the card will fit nicely with the wifes A64 3200+ on her DFI lanparty UT NF 3 250GB board.

256bit NV40(A1,16pp,6vp) with 512MB DDR3

thats the exact line thats greyed out whrere the customixe tab is at the end. I guess i got pretty lucky. I came here for more info if it was possible. I am gonna run a graphics bechie today and see where I stand and post back the results.

Ow ok, that temp is perfect :D

Maybe you can run a app wich requires more GPU power, like the one that comes with atitool. (makes my pc go slow in every direction :p )

But i think youre ok :)

Happy fraggin

A 512 NV40 huh?? wierd.....

Well, its possible your card at one time was a 6800U Extreme...

Thats the only thing that makes sense with that core and the pipes coming so easily. Can't be an NV41, and NV42 a big neg. Btw: did you up the core or mem voltage at all with that unlock?

didnt change any voltages at all. didnt see a reason to. its running stable as a rock. Would post 3dmark 05 scores but my P3 just cant cut it lol. serious CPU bottlenecked. I will enjoy this card till its no longer useful...with what games me and the wife play it will last a couple years anyway. Like said in a month I will be getting 7600GT for my Core 2 build. would get faster but money isnt where I need it. new baby new house etc. Any special 7600GT to look for?

I know but as this card is AGP my new mainboard for the Core 2 will be PCI-E so this 6800 will be put into the wifes DFI Lanparty UT Nforce 3 250GB AGP mainboard. I got the card at a local comp shop for $80 so I think I got a good deal as it was factory sealed brand new.
