BAD_POOL_HEADER I have found can be caused by a number of different things. First, see if the blue screen identifies a particular file as the cause of the error. Second, run some RAM tests with Memtest86+, and third run some hard drive diagnostics (the program used here will depend on the manufacturer of your hard drive(s)).

You can get both Memtest86+, and the HDD diagnostic programs (all the good ones anyway) by downloading the Ultimate Boot CD from www.ultimatebootcd.com

Would upgrading to the actual Windows 7 fix this?

If there is a hardware problem, no, but I would move to the RTM version of 7 anyway.

Download the UBCD and run those diagnostics.
