hi there, i know this thread doesn't belong to here, but i really need help to install MS-DOS 3.3 on an old computer, so that i can do experiment with my lab equipment.

Here's my situation is that i have a Pentium MMX 233 Mhz computer running at windows 98. I guess you guys will question me that why do i still need to install MS-DOS, because the old lab equipment does not support any DOS higher than version #4.

please give me advice, i really need to get this lab equipment working so that i can do the experiment. Thank you very much.

I can help you if you physically possess 3.3 and an XT machine.

Remember, that OS came on three 5.25" floppies. I have the floppies, but can't vouch for media degradation after all these years (18?)

Make sure that the old comp is an XT machine with a 5.25" floppy bay.

I don't remember where format is on those diskettes, so pop them in one at a time - type dir at the prompt to locate. Once you do, format the hd.

Pop in #1 disk and type setup (or install). It'll take you through the three diskettes.

ehh... what do you mean by XT machine? i don't quite get it :)

does 3 1/2" floppy work? because i have the 3.3 (3 disks) in 3.5" floppies. if it doesn't work, i will switch to 5.5" then :)

thanks for your help
