Cisco Router Help

We have a site to site T1 on a Cisco 1720 Router with two T1 WIC's. The AL LED on both sides of the T1 is yellow with no other LED's lit. We've had Ameritch test the line/circuit on both ends and they say there are no problems. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you checked the cables from the demarc to the routers? Are they extended lines or simply short peices of cat5 going directly from the demarc to the router's wic? Try replacing the cables first (make sure they're standard 568A or 568B).

Yellow light suggests it's not seeing the frame port. Are you sure the DLCI is set up right within each router? Perhaps the DLCI's were switched during setup? Each router will have it's own unique DLCI.

Rule #1 - Never trust the Telco.
(Rule #2 - Read the post. Just because you have a T1 doesn't mean they're running frame.)

First, are these alarm lights at the demarc itself? If so, have the Telco fix that.

Second, you need someone over there that has some experience with the Cisco IOS that can make sure the interfaces are properly configured, e.g. encapsulation type is correct on both ends (line protocol), etc.

I would suggest that if you are not able to go into the router ans check it's status and confi, you aren't going to get this working by yourself.

Is it a new circuit or an existing one that broke?

Case 1: You need someone that can configure and operate that router for you.

Case 2: Someone changed something. Either the line went down (get the telco to check again and say that your network engineer has already checked everything and says he's not getting a DTR off the CPE equipment from Ameritech) or the cabling has changed. Check without removing anything that everything looks plugged in at the router and the Ameritech equipment end. If you still have no joy you are back to case 1 and the Cisco tech.
