hello,

I am thinking about using the P6N SLI Platinum MB for my next build, there is not a lot of information out there since it is "new." What little I did find seems to point this is a very good board for the price. If anyone has one let me know your first impressions. I am looking to OC an e6420, when it is out, to 3.2.

I am a pleased owner of this fine board. Proud to say it!
Great layout, install was a breeze (though MSI is in serious need of
a native English speaking tech writer), basic setup went alright,
though DO NOT install any of MSI's crappy utilities, nVidia nTune, either.
Performance and ease of OCing is great. I put this board to 2.66GHz/1333FSB, 1:1 fsb/dram ratio, DRAM 1.9V CL4/1T on the third boot. And I'd never OC'd a mobo in my life. (I did OC a Lycoming 300. Once!)
I've had it at 1466FSB/2.93GHz/1:1 with temps of 46C CPU/33C system using the Ninja rev. B w/fan, but failed to boot at 1600FSB/3.2GHz/1:1 (ram @ 1.9V/CL5/2T). The mobo didn't set the DRAM voltage as high as I requested in BIOS (2.1V) and I hadn't increased any other voltages. Voltages available are: CPU, Memory, NB, SB, and FSB VTT. The mobo sets the E6400 vCore to 1.296v, though I have experimented with increasing +0.0125v which it accepted.

I built this rig as a silent project so 2.9GHz 1:1 w/load temps around 47C using the one fan is good with me.

hey to flyer335 just i should be getting this board today :), just wondering if you tried to up the voltage any when you had it at 3.2ghz any. if not that coulld be a reason why it didnt post. and as for the original post i'll see what happens as well since im trying to run mine at 3.2-3.3 all the 3.5-3.6 OCs for a 6600 (what i'll be using) seem to be a bit of overkill for me :D

pparrot,
No, other thab the bump in vCORE and +4% on FSB VTT I left the rest as it was. Update, I set the FSB to 1500mhz, DRAM to 750mhz (4-4-4-12-21-2T), vCORE 1.32, DRAM 2.2 (only gave me 1.92v), NB 1.35, SB 1.5, FSB VTT +6% and it booted rapidly to 3000MHz (8x375) 1:1. Yeehaw!
CPU is steady at 48/47C, mobo 37C.

I might try for 3.2GHz, don't know...
