Can anyone recommend any software to edit videos before I burn them to a DVD as a movie? I'd like for it to burn, remove commercials, and add menus.

Heh, no, like when you pop a DVD movie in, you get those options, Play Movie, extras, sound settings, etc... I'd like to be able to set up an initial menu.

I use Adobe Premiere Pro and I like it a whole lot. It is easy to use and very effective. If you can't afford Adobe Premiere Pro, then I would go with Adobe Premiere Elements. I heard it is very good and you can find it for under $100. Good luck!

i can recommend presentavid (http://www.presentavid.com/PresentaVid)
simple nice program
adds callouts, your own logos & watermarks, can burn dvd automatically to view on a dvd player and publish outputs in different popular formats (even flash and gif), also can record a screen (region, window) and then allows to edit it
but it can't create menus i guess
